PLAY – Multilingual Sports for Holistic Preschool Development
The PLAY project aims to integrate multilingual learning with physical activity to enhance early childhood education for children aged 1–6 years, fostering multilingualism, physical literacy, and cultural awareness.
To achieve this goal, multilingual sports-based curricula will be developed, combining physical activities with language learning. The PLAY consortium will organise and facilitate knowledge transfer workshops, also called “train the trainer” workshops, for kindergarten teachers, as well as programs involving parents to strengthen cooperation between home and kindergarten. Lastly, a digital learning space will be designed for open access to all project results and materials.
Objectives:
The main goals of the project are to:
- Enhancing the Quality of Early Childhood Education by Integrating Physical Activity with Language Learning.
- Strengthening Institutional Capacity and Transnational Cooperation in Sports and Education in 4 countries and 5 organisations.
- Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Physical Activity as a Tool for Learning.
- Fostering Inclusion and Diversity Through Accessible and Multilingual Learning Environments.

Outputs:
They key results of the project are:
- The improvement of language competencies, physical literacy, and social inclusion among preschool children.
- The development of new skills and methodologies for teachers, as well as innovative strategies for integrating language learning with physical education.
- Parents’ engagement in their children’s learning will increase family involvement in education.
- A sports-based multilingual learning model supported by digital open-access resources.
- Long-term integration of movement-based language learning into early childhood education and policy development.
Project Partners:
The consortium consists of 5 partners including Montessori Kindergartens, Sport Academy and a Training, Research and Development Organization. The partnership is:
